Hello my name is
William David Underwood and I am the proprietor of Muckfast. Having been
in the Agricultural Contracting business for many years I heard of the
problems of slurry/dirty water disposal faced by farmers. After 12 months
of research looking into the requirements of farmers and the slurry equipment
available I set up an umbilical injection system in 1993.
Over the years my business has expanded, and the set-up now consists of:-
- Veenhuis Umbilical Injector
- Grassland model featuring 16 injectors
- Groundhog Umbilical Injector
- Primarily used on stubble in the Autumn
- 1400m of piping and Wangen
Pump
- In Cab Computer and Flow Meter
which records the forward speed of the tractor, the rate of application,
the total amount applied and the total area covered.
- Slurry testing for Nitrogen
content - Advice can be given on the amount of Nitrogen applied to the
land so fertiliser application rates can be adjusted accordingly.
- 9500 litre Veenhuis tanker
mounted with Veenhuis Umbilical Injector.
- Abbey Dual Muck Spreader
I am currently involved in a 3 year trial with ADAS/IGER where my work
will be carefully monitored to evaluate ammonia losses into the atmosphere
during and after slurry injection.
